1. Core principle
Using solar energy as an energy source to drive the operation of water treatment systems mainly includes the following two technical paths:
Solar thermal drive: By heating water through solar collectors and using distillation principles (such as solar distillers) to separate impurities, it is suitable for seawater desalination or high-salt wastewater treatment.
Solar electric drive: It generates electricity through solar photovoltaic panels to supply power to water treatment equipment (such as ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis membrane modules, water pumps, etc.), achieving automated water treatment.
2. Application scenarios
Water supply in remote areas: Solving the problem of drinking water shortage in rural areas, islands or disaster-stricken areas without power grid coverage.
Decentralized sewage treatment: Domestic sewage treatment in small communities or tourist attractions to achieve the recycling of water resources.
Emergency rescue: Rapidly purify surface water or rainwater at the disaster site to provide safe drinking water.
3. Advantages
Green and energy-saving: No external power supply required, reducing carbon emissions.
Portable and flexible: Modular design enables rapid deployment.
Low maintenance cost: Automated operation, suitable for unattended scenarios.
Ultrafiltration (UF)
1. Technical principle
Driven by pressure, ultrafiltration membranes (with pore diameters of approximately 0.01 to 0.1 microns) are used to retain colloids, bacteria, large-molecule organic substances, suspended solids, etc. in water, allowing water and small-molecule substances to pass through.
It belongs to a physical separation process, without the need for chemical agents, and the process is simple.
2. Application scenarios
Pre-treatment of drinking water: Remove turbidity and microorganisms from water to improve water quality.
Industrial wastewater treatment: such as the separation of macromolecular pollutants in food processing and textile printing and dyeing wastewater.
Reverse osmosis pretreatment: Reduce the turbidity of the raw water and extend the service life of the reverse osmosis membrane.
Technology | Membrane pore size | Mainly remove the object | Typical application scenarios | Energy consumption/Cost |
Ultrafiltration (UF) | 0.01-0.1μm | Bacteria, colloids, macromolecules | Pretreatment and reclaimed water reuse | Low energy consumption |
Reverse Osmosis (RO) | 0.0001μm | Inorganic salts, heavy metals, viruses | Drinking water and seawater desalination | High energy consumption (requires pressurization) |
